South Station is renamed the Michael Dukakis South Station Transportation Center.

At the ceremony, the former Massachusetts governor concedes, “I don’t think anybody will stop calling this South Station, quite frankly. How many different names have we had for the Boston Garden? It’s still the Boston Garden, isn’t it?” Ironically, Dukakis advocates building a North-South rail link between the North and South stations, rather than enlarging the latter.
